Balance Training

Balance Training is a vital component of physical therapy and fitness programs, designed to improve stability, coordination, and body awareness (proprioception). It’s especially important for older adults, athletes, individuals recovering from injury, or those with neurological or musculoskeletal conditions.

Types of Balance

  • Static Balance: Maintaining a stable position (e.g., standing on one leg)
  • Dynamic Balance: Maintaining stability during movement (e.g., walking, reaching)
  • Reactive Balance: Responding to external disturbances (e.g., tripping)
  • Proprioceptive Control: Sensing joint and limb position for coordination
